  • Roof Installation Process

There are two ways that you can install the Stone Coated Steel Proucts.

    1) You can choose to do an Overlay which means that you prepare the existing roof surface by installing an underlayment & a Batton system where the Stone Coated Steel Products are fastened too. This technique is secured directly over the existing roof. Now this is an alternative to tearing everything off and it can help save you some $Money$ but if your roof is already experiencing leaks and/or is in bad shape then this alternative is not for you.

    2) The second option is to tear the existing roof off to the decking (now if it is a wood shake roof you will have to resheet/redeck the entire roofline before you can install the Steel product because wood shake roofs have strapper boards spaced an even distance apart and there is not a solid surface to secure against). This method is my Recommended method because you can strip down all of the roofing material to see if anything needs to be replaced before you install the product. (the cost difference may fluctuate with this method but it is by far the best choice in ensuring a leak free/wood rot free installation).

Also, if you have a Wood Shake roof and you are wanting to help keep your attic 30 degrees cooler year round then we suggest you install a Radiant Barrier Sheeting: (which is an aluminum backed OSB that is designed to reflect the UV rays and help keep the heat out during the summer and the heat in during the winter, thus making your home More Efficient!) Next we would install a Synthetic Underlayment which will withstand the elements better over time vs. your standard felt paper underlayment. Then we would install the Stone Coated Steel Roofing System using color matched screws vs. nails (nails tend to pop out over time leaving your roof exposed for leaks and other damages).

With this installation method your home will be more Efficient, Maintenance Free, and provide you with an Elegant look for years to come. That is our Decra Stone Coated Steel Roofing Installation Process!
